As of Monday 5th October 2015 it became law for retailers in England to charge 5p for plastic carrier bags in an effort to reduce their impact on the great outdoors that we, as cyclists, love.
Evans Cycles are proud to say that 100% of the charges for plastic bags across its 60 stores nationwide will be donated in full to Cyclists Fighting Cancer.
Cyclists Fighting Cancer is Evans Cycles chosen charity partner. The charity’s mission is to make services available to an estimated 32,000 children and teens currently living with cancer in the UK. CFC enables these children and young people living with cancer regain their physical fitness, strength and confidence by giving them new bikes, adapted trikes, tandems, other equipment and support. Exercise has been shown in numerous adult studies to be the single most effective way of improving both physical and mental wellness for people surviving cancer. Cycling as an activity is one of the best forms of exercise based rehabilitation, especially for children, as it provides all these benefits in a low impact, fun, sociable and exciting way.
Cyclists Fighting Cancer rely on the generosity of others to fund this great work. You can further help in a number of other ways. Evans Cycles customers can donate by rounding up their purchases to the nearest pound through Pennies. Essentially a modern day collection tin! In addition you can make a direct donation by visiting the web page or by riding for them.
